Performance Clusters

The Model of Performance Skills™ was developed from an abilities model based on a study by James Noon, an academic and consultant, into the characteristics associated with management and leadership effectiveness.

The results of the study identified some 350 characteristics which were structured into performance groups or clusters on which the modules in the Skillogy PERFORM programme were developed.

The modules share common or related characteristics. For example, the change management module involves a performance cluster of 24 related performance skills where the characteristics are common or shared within the cluster. – 8 performance skills in Managing SELF, 7 in Managing PEOPLE and 9 in Managing WORK.

The importance of this is, if a manager or leader has a need to improve their abilities in change management, for example, there is a strong likelihood that they should be, at the very least, assessing their level of performance within related skill areas in the cluster. More often than not it identifies a need for further development in other modules.

This is a significant strength in the Model of Performance Skills. It provides an integrated approach to learning and improvement where incremental gains in performance are achieved and measured at individual, team and organisational levels.

To view the modules of a Performance Cluster click on the cluster, then click on the module to view its impact on other skills within the Performance Cluster.
